Artwork Guidelines
Ideally your files should be saved as pre-press quality PDFs. When creating your pdf it is important to ensure that these simple guidelines are followed.
Either convert the text to curves or embed all fonts.
Please ensure that all colours and pictures have been converted to CMYK when producing full colour work.
The resolution of your images should not be downsampled to less than 300dpi. If you are given an option to downsample it is always safer to select ‘Do not downsample ’.
Creating PDFs
For an easy way to create a pdf file, then CutePDF (freeware) enables virtually any Windows application (must be able to print) to create professional quality PDF documents - with just a push of a button!
Bleed
If your printed area goes to the edge of the sheet you will need to add bleed.
This is where the image is extended by 3mm on each side eg for A4 paper (297 x 210mm), your image must measure 303 x 216mm. This is required to allow for tolerances when guillotining the job to size. Please see illustration above.
